Description:

Dato is a replacement for the system menu bar clock.

By default, it looks exactly the same, but when you click it, you get a small calendar, calendar events for the selected day, the current time in various time zones (even with custom names), week number, and more. You can customize what to show in the menu and the menu bar.

Dato supports all the locales and languages that macOS supports, with the exception of the preferences menu which is English-only.

To replace the system clock, click it, select “Open Date & Time Preferences…” in the menu, uncheck “Show date and time in menu bar”, then drag Dato to the position you want in the menu bar while pressing the Command key.

## Tips

Hold the Option key while clicking the calendar arrows to jump a year instead of a month.

## FAQ

### How can I toggle AM/PM for the time?

Dato adheres to what you have set in “System Preferences › Language and Region”.

### Can you show week numbers in the calendar?

This is a common request and planned, but it will take some time as I'm currently using the system calendar component, and to implement this, I will have to implement a custom calendar.

### Can you show colored dots in the calendar to indicate that a date has events?

Same answer as the above.

### Can you add support for Google Calendar?

It's already supported. Just add your Google calendars to Calendar.app and then enable the calendar in the Dato preferences.

### Can I reorder the time zones?

Not at the moment, but this is planned for later this year. I plan to completely rewrite the time zone management.

### How do I change the day the week starts on?

Dato adheres to what you have set in “System Preferences › Language and Region”.

### Can you localize the app into my language?

All the date and time output and the calendar adhere to your locale preferences. I have no plans to localize the app itself.
