Description:

Backing up your notes on your Mac


Backup locked notes

You can specify whether locked notes should also be saved. They are then exported as password-protected archives. You set the corresponding password. It is encrypted and cannot be read out.
-> To be able to save locked notes, they must be unlocked during the backup!


Re-import

With a right click Open with -> Notes.app the saved notes can be (re-)imported as new notes.


Status message

When the backup is finished, a status message appears.
-> click on the message to go to the backup folder.


Attachments

Attachments are saved in an extra folder and are assigned with a link in the saved notes.
With a click on the link they can be added to the notes again.
In macOS Catalina images are saved in the note itself.


Number of backups

The number of days after which the oldest backups should be deleted can be specified.


Preview

With Quick Look - press the space bar - you can quickly navigate through the saved notes.


Sorting

The saved notes contain the original creation date, so they can be sorted in the Finder in the same order as in the Notes app.
